General Overview of the Service
Adrenal fatigue is a term that describes fatigue and other symptoms caused by a poorly working adrenal gland. This condition is typically caused by mental, emotional, or physical stress.
Your adrenal glands produce a variety of hormones that are critical to bodily functions. A medical condition known as adrenal insufficiency (Addison’s disease) is caused by inadequate hormone production.
How the Service is Done
If you have adrenal fatigue, your adrenal glands are unable to keep pace with the demands of perpetual fight-or-flight arousal. As a result, they can’t produce quite enough of the hormones you need to feel good.
Signs and symptoms of adrenal fatigue include
- Fatigue
- Body aches
- Unexplained weight loss
- Low blood pressure
- Lightheadedness
- Loss of body hair
- Skin discoloration (hyperpigmentation)
Methods That Are Used
To diagnose adrenal fatigue, we will first conduct saliva testing. This will provide information on adrenal hormone function as well as hormone levels.
Your adrenal glands are responsible for your responses to stress. Levels of the main adrenal hormone, cortisol, rise and fall during the day due to fluctuations in the stress response. Cortisol output by your adrenal glands is a very reliable indicator of your adrenal function. It tells us how well your body is dealing with stress.
The Cortisol/DHEAS Saliva Test measures the levels of the stress hormones DHEAS and cortisol in your saliva, and provides an evaluation of how cortisol levels differ throughout the day.
Saliva hormone tests can also uncover biochemical imbalances that can cause conditions such as chronic stress, adrenal fatigue, anxiety, chronic fatigue, obesity, diabetes, depression, insomnia, and many other chronic conditions.
The test involves simply spitting into a test tube four times during the day — Morning (8 AM), noon, evening (4 PM) and night (11 PM to midnight).
Once the sample set is complete, you mail the tubes back to the lab for analysis in the mailing envelope that is included with the test kit. Both you and your doctor will receive copies of the results, usually within 2 weeks.
Based on these findings, we will follow Dr. Wilson’s Adrenal Fatigue Supplement Program which combines suggestions about lifestyle, diet, rest, and body-mind techniques with specific recommendations for dietary supplementation.
Together they create a comprehensive Program for adrenal fatigue that effectively supports and promotes healthy adrenal function, vitality, and stress hardiness.
Doctor Wilson’s Original Formulations are supplements including: Adrenal C Formula, Adrenal Rebuilder, Super Adrenal Stress Formula and Herbal Adrenal Support Formula (or its alternate Herbal HPA).
Possible Side Effects
People with certain medical conditions (like high blood pressure) and specific sensitivities (including alcohol or licorice) should talk with a health practitioner before taking the supplements.
